Project to generate funds for affordable housing
Construction is underway on four new luxury residences on the edge of the Wahroonga Estate, with Binet Homes contracted to deliver the project.
The new homes replace original 1930s dwellings and are scheduled for completion by March 2026.
The Division Property Trust (DPT) approved the project to enhance the estate and generate funds for affordable rental housing for South Pacific Division (SPD) staff and Sydney Adventist Hospital employees.
Each residence will occupy a 500 sqm footprint and feature five bedrooms plus a study and home theatre, multiple bathrooms, a butler’s pantry, pool and parking for up to three vehicles.
SPD CFO and DPT chair Francois Keet said proceeds from the sales of the homes would “directly support the provision of affordable rental housing for SPD staff and hospital employees, strengthening the community and ensuring that those who serve others have a place to call home”.
The rental accommodation will be provided in The Quarters development, also located on the estate and nearing completion. The Quarters will include 126 studio apartments for Avondale University student nurses and Australian National University student doctors; 45 one- and two-bedroom apartments for hospital and SPD staff; 15 serviced apartments for estate visitors (replacing the former transit flats); and 184 car parks.
The Binet project forms part of the long-term vision for the Wahroonga Estate outlined in the 2010 Concept Plan, blending heritage with modern housing to serve both mission and community needs.
